Back in September, as the college football season got underway, we curmudged about the Atlantic Coast Conference and how it had miserably failed to live up to expectations as a football powerhouse.
The post-season has confirmed those views. In bowl games this year, the so-called "power-conference" ACC is 2-6--right up there with the WAC. And in the history of BCS games, the ACC is a stunning 1-9.
Perhaps in football, it would be better to refer to the ACC as a "mid-major" conference.
