Our sources, and news reports, from South Carolina indicate that absentee balloting in the state has already broken all records with several more days to go.

SC does not have "no excuse" early voting like neighboring NC and GA, but SC press reports indicate that 200,000 absentee ballots have already been submitted in the Palmetto State.

That's still a relatively small fraction of the 1.6-2.o million votes expected to be cast in the state this year, which has 500,000 more registered voters than it did in 2004--300,000 of those in this year alone.

Could huge black voter turnout in SC lead to a sneaky upset for Obama in what is otherwise described as a "reliably red" state? We doubt it, but, of course, we'd love to be proved wrong.
