Hey X Curmudgeon -- Senators Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) & Claire McCaskill (D-MO) were just down the street from you today as they visited the Arlington Obama headquarters to hold a press conference. They don't seem to be as fragile as Republican VP candidate Sarah Palin as they answered any question from the media and didn't hide behind any handlers. They pointed out that the only change you can count on from the McCain/Palin ticket is a change in positions. McCain changed many of his positions to appeal to the right wing of the Republican Party and Palin was for the "bridge to nowhere" before she was against it. They also mentioned that Palin charged the state of Alaska a per diem for sleeping in her own bed. So much for cleaning up corruption and promoting integrity in public office. In response to questions from the media about McCain's bouncd after selecting Palin, Klobuchar pointed out that once the public has more than a 1/2 hour convention speech upon which to judge the candidate, they'll be able to make a more informed choice. Sen. McCaskill said it was unbelievable that the campaign has sequestered a candidate from the media in a country that values its freedom of the press.

McCain & Palin are holding a press conference tomorrow in Fairfax (no longer in a public school after it was deemed to be inappropriate while school is in session). It will be interesting to see if Gov. Palin can move beyond her script and tell the voters where she stands on the important issues of the day.

Darn, I wish I'd known the Senators were going to be over here in Arlington. I met Amy Klobuchar at a fundraiser for her campaign after she debated her opponent on Meet the Press in 2006. Turns out she graduated Yale two years after me, making me feel old and past my prime.

Is the real Sarah Palin cross-eyed? Not that it matters...
