Voters disgusted with the squabbling between the other two (Moran and McAuliffe) decided to take a flyer on Deeds. (2) the Washington Post endorsed Deeds, with the faulty reasoning that he could appeal to moderate independents with his downcountry charm. What the Post didn't reckon with was that Deeds has lower appeal in vote-rich Northern Virginia, where he is yet to spark much enthusiasm.
